Great tutorial. So both the aircraft and the remote are upgradeable via the DJI Assistant 2 desktop app or the DJI GO App on mobile devices. It’s really convenient.
Does anyone know how often are firmware updates released on average? 🙂

I tried upgrading both ways (DJI Go app and Assistant), and both failed to upgrade. Now my gimbal control and camera control don’t work.

There are countless flaws embedded in this system. I purchased a phantom 4 and before I could fly it, it says I must update the firmware. I downloaded DJI assistant for my MacBook pro and it tells me the update failed after it hits 100%. (Before it would freeze like the comments below) Then I tried the alternative method, downloading the update through the DJI Go application for iOS. When I press download it says that I need to turn off the device and connect to the internet. I’ve tried both methods multiple times, the battery was at 100% when I started now it’s at 60% because I’ve been trying to update this for so long. This is so frustrating and from a consumer’s perspective this is extremely inefficient and a terrible experience. And of course, DJI Customer service is closed on the weekends. The only time I have can fly this thing. All these comments below are having problems as well and no response from DJI with solutions. Please help us DJI.

DJI Assistant doesn’t work on latest version of OS X, you can only use DJI Go app on smart phone for updates.

I’m trying to update the firmware but it says that I need to connect the phantom 4 I’m assuming to my phone which has connection to the internet but nothing happens. A bit confusing. I’m not sure what phantom assistant is, its not in the manual. I’m not sure what my computer has to do with this process.

Has anyone had the warning “Aircraft not connected” when it IS indeed connected to the tablet? I’m trying to upgrade this drone and I cannot. I never had this trouble with my P3s.

Update: After some tinkering, it shows the “Aircraft Connected”…but my updates keep failing. I sent off a report to DJI, but don’t know how long it will take to answer.

“Fire up the DJI Assistant 2.” This assumes that we even know how to get this on the computer. Please give more details during these otherwise helpful videos. Thx!

I live in the DC area, nearly 30min drive from the WhiteHouse. When I bought this 2 years ago, I always had to drive another half-hour away for this to take off. Fortunately the No Fly Zone has been reduced. I utterly detest this nanny-state feature, and will get a drone that lets me make the decision – as I generally don’t even go over tree-tops, and should be able to do something as simple as inspect my roof. When these insane DC-area drone rules went into effect, there was a hobby shop in the same plaza as a gun shop near me. Guess which one was put out of business for selling a dangerous product?

At least I am walking distance to being able to put it in the air after recent changes. I do real work with these (within the severe limits of not even being able to take off in my own house due to the fence).
